As the adoptive mother of two I have given both my boys an organic milk based formula (Baby's Only Organic). We are going to adopt another child and I'm thinking about not going with a milk based, but I'm afraid that too much soy would be bad for my baby. Any suggestions? Brands?
Thank you in advance for the feedback!smiley-laughing.gif

Maybe I'll ask a different way... did anyone out there not breast feed for whatever reason? If so what type of formula did you use?
Thank you!

Well, I did breastfeed all three of my children... but I think you could do either formula as long as your baby doesn't react badly to it. You are doing such a loving and kind thing giving a needy child a good home that it really offsets the formula issue in my opinion. You might contact your local La Leche League chapter and see if they have a breastmilk bank you could be supplied from. Some have also found goat's milk to be a very good substitute for breastmilk. It has the closest composition to our own.

A lot of babies can't tolerate milk formulas and do soy formulas just fine. they also have soy and dairy free formulas if you are worried about the soy. I wasn't vegan with my 3 littles ones, and I nursed some but used regular formula. Good luck!

I used Earth's Best Organic formula for my daughter. ( also adopted) She loved it, we never had any problems and she is now 4 yrs old and very healthy.

Thanks Angela and Bridget! I haven't used the Earth's Best, but I've definitely seen it. I used Baby's Only Organic for my first two, but I wanted to know if there was something else out there.

We find out today if we are going to get this little baby girl! She is my youngest son's half sister. Praying!! Thank you guys for your formula help!!

www.hmbana.org has some information on milk banks and ways to obtain. I breastfed/formula fed my first and am solely breastfeeding my second. My first is healthy despite the combination so I'm sure you'll do great. Congratulations!
