and it was so hard to finish. I'm kind of sad because I was really looking forward to trying tofu.
How long does it take to get used to?? The texture is just so new to me. I made tofu tacos with firm tofu. Here is the recipe I used...maybe there was something wrong with the recipe??

Tofu can be used in so many ways. First, be sure to use the right kind of tofu for the dish you are making.
If you are using it for something like tacos or a meat substitute, try freezing it at least partially first. The final texture will be more meaty like. Tofu takes on the other flavors it is cooked with.
I have just found my favorite way to cook tofu. After semi freezing it, I cut it into 1/4" thick slices about 1" square. Then I let them drain for about an hour, dabbing the water out from time to time. The more water you can get out the better the texture will be. I mixed up some pastry flour (you could use regular flour or oat flour or ?), garlic powder, ginger and a little sea salt. Then I covered each piece of tofu with this and fried it in a mix of olive and sesame oil until it was light brown on each side. I tried not to eat it all before I finished quick stir frying bean sprouts, carrots, green onions, red pepper, and baby corns in olive oil. I added a mix of shoyu and light miso, then put (what was left) of the tofu in that. Yummy!
Silken tofu can be used in puddings and other desserts, Lots of uses. Just keep trying and I think you will find that it is pretty good if used right.
