Cystic Acne

Hello! I have been a vegetarian for 6 years and have just recently began a vegan diet and lifestyle. My boyfriend always helped cook and cater to my vegetarian diets and is encouraging me through becoming vegan.
However he won't give up meat or dairy himself. He has cystic acne and blames it on his genes. I am trying to convince him to try eliminating at least dairy and then see if it helps at all. Has anyone experienced this with cystic acne or know of anyone who has found help in switching to a veg/vegan diet?
Thanks!
While I don't have cyctic acne, I do have bad adult acne. I am currently taking a daily oral antibiotic, I use and antibiotic cream daily and a vitamin A cream 2 nights a week. I am trying vegan for this very reason (among others). While I am still taking all this crazy medicine, I am only take the oral antibiotic once a day, and I haven't been using the vitamin A cream. I still use the antibiotic cream, but in the past when I have tried to cut back on the oral stuff the acne would rear its ugly head. Is my "less" acne due to a vegan lifestyle I cannot say for sure, but I am hopeful. I would really like to quit taking a daily antibiotic! Tell him to give it a try. Also, some people's complexion is dependant on wheat as well. He could try cutting dairy for a month, and if that doesn't help he could try cutting wheat for a month. Everyone's body is so different. Hope my personal experience helps! (FYI: my dermatologist tells me that to see if a medication regimen will work for you, you have to give that regimen 3 months. Maybe it is the same with a diet change. That I do not know)
Guys, i really hate to do this, really. But it depends on what the CAUSE of your acne is. Mine is hormonal. If is because you have a bad diet then changing your eating habits will make it go away otherwise it will not. I am so sorry to be the one to have to tell you this. Lack of exercise could be another reason, you need to sweat the crap out of your pores. But for me it is hormonal. Antibiotics work for me but they are BAD BAD BAD!!!!! I started using the products I found at this web site and the results are amazing. They are all natural, green & vegan. http://petitemarieorganics.com
Thanks Michelle. Unfortunately it is not me who has acne, so I cannot be positive about the causes of the acne. I am pretty sure its just heredity, but I was hoping to find some hollistic and natural remedies. Thanks!
I get a kind of painful cystic acne around my nose and mouth whenever my blood sugar level gets too high. They start as deep painful lumps that you can feel but not see. Then they get bigger and closer to the surface.
I consume a whole foods plant based diet in the low glycemic range, followed by a bit of exercise and it has kept my face clear. As soon as I stray from the diet I break out immediately.
I got new cysts while on antibiotics and never found any that would work to resolve them. Only following this very strict diet has worked. Even though I can't eat most stuff I'm glad to be free.
I haven't ate dairy in months and i still have acne issues but then again everyone is different
How often does he wash his pillowcase? How often is he on his cellphone? These can be some causes for spreading.
I replied in another thread on here about acne. Acne is primarly a hormonal condition with androgens being imbalanced.
Dairy and meat contain strong animal hormones, which not only cause imbalances in themselves they stress the liver. The liver is primarily what metabolizes and breaks down these excess hormones.
Bitter herbs on the back of the tongue pre meal is the best tool to cleanse the liver.

Hello Hotchkiss23! Your friend has to identify what causes his acne. If there is no hormonal disorder the most probable cause is diet. A vegetarian or vegan diet will be of much help. Recent studies have shown that diary products may cause or support acne lesions. Ask him to search the web for recent studies concerning the use of diary products in daily diet. You can look here for more info on diet and acne.
You're going to have to go to a dermatologist about that.
if something stressful is happening you can lose hair
