Has anyone made this pizza without the truffle oil? I don't see another recipe that calls for truffle oil and it looks rather pricey to buy it just for this particular pizza. I was wondering how other people made it and, if you did use the truffle oil, do you think it really makes or breaks the recipe? Thanks!!

When I first made this pizza, I couldn't find the truffle oil so I sauted mushrooms in olive oil and used that instead (I also added the mushrooms to the pizza with delicious results). I have since found the truffle oil and used it on the pizza. It does add a particular flavor to it but I'd say it's not necesary since the pizza is so versitle. Use olive oil instead and it will be just as good I think. If you do decide to purchase the truffle oil, it can be used on pasta and other recipes too so it wouldn't go to waste.

Hi! I did buy the truffle oil for this, and have since used it for other things (like topping home made soy cheese pizza w/ red onion, mushrooms, yummm). I really like it, it definitely adds something!! I bought a tiny little bottle for around $8 at whole foods, although it seems as if it will last forever. I've used it several times and not a dent yet. i did like it on the raddicio pizza, it definitely added a lot. but my hubby didn't really like the dish since raddicio is very bitter, so i guess we won't be having it again.

oh and fyi, someone on here said to fridge it, so i did... then it turned this weird, thick cloudy consistency with big blobs in it! i removed it and blobs are gone.. weird.. so i'd say to keep it in your cabinet.

anyway, this was a bit rambling but hope it helped!!
