Navigating the Active Discussions

I almost always go right to the Active Discussions to read posts. When I 'Next' my way along and read posts, is there a way to leave a post I am reading and just go back to where I am within the Active Discussions, instead of back to the most recent disccusion?
I would recommend opening the link from the Active Discussions page you are on, in a new window. Right click the link to do this. If you are on a Mac and have a one-button mouse, press Control + click.
