If anyone needs some education or ideas about healthy pregnancy, I will be glad to help. I work as a maternal/child health nurse, and I am vegan. You can be vegan and pregnant!

I am a new vegan and thinking of becoming pregnant! What should i do to start preparing my body? And what do I tell people and my doctor when I do become pregnant (my vegan choice has not been met with great reviews...)

Jennifer, I just want to thank you for doing this! While I am not thinking of becoming pregnant, I am a nurse (critical care) & know that veganism is met w/ resistance in the "modern", so to speak, medical community. I had my own encounter w/ my units NP; her words to me were, "you really need to make sure you get your calcium and vit D from somewhere," I simply said I am and moved on. The battle is almost not worth it (with her). So, thank you for doing this!

I would love some advice on getting ready for baby as well! I am 28 years old and have been trying (kind of) for a few months and no luck. However, I just cut caffeine, started walking and went vegan 5 weeks ago. I feel fabulous! Better than ever! Any advice would be appreciated! For those having a hard time being accepted as Vegans, I understand and usually tell people I am allergic to most meats and dairy (which is pretty much the truth) and they accept it better. However, I educate those willing because I want everyone to know who great I feel! Now lets hope I will have a little one on the way soon!

Yes, Jennifer...please give us any advise you can! I plan on trying in about 5 months and want to make sure I have all the vitamins and minerals I need before it happens. I've been vegetarian for years and vegan (almost always superhero) for over a month now. Thanks in advance!

Well I have been vegan for 20 days and just found out on Easter that we are expecting. I'm pretty exhausted myself but I just figure it goes with thte territory as I was tired while prego with my son. Any advice is appreciated as I am so new to being a vegan and now have to worry about more then just myself:-)

Jennifer, what other nutrients should we be aware of once we are pregnant? I'm currently taking a prenatal vitamin (Rainbow Light), liquid folic acid/B12 drops, and hemp protein in my smoothies. I know calcium and Omega 3s are important as well. Do you think there is a need to supplement or will I get enough through flax and leafy greens? Thanks!!
