My kids are really wanting pizza. How do I make it superhero and make it yummy without tomato sauce?
I made one the other night that I completely fell in love with that was a twist off of Alicia's radicchio pizza... I took whole wheat pizza dough, sprinkled olive oil and garlic pieces/or garlic powder on it first. Then I tossed portabello mushroom slices, red onion, artichoke (I used rinsed ones from a can) shredded green cabbage and red onion in an olive oil/white truffle oil mixture and layered it on the pizza. Then sprinkle with nutritional yeast for some cheesy flavor. Even non-vegans I served like it, but I know kids have very particular tastebuds! If your kids like pesto, I make a pesto in the food processor with basil, sunflower seeds, olive oil, nutritional yeast and garlic that tastes really good as a sauce.
Vegweb has a billion options for making a pizza, so I'm sure you could find something there. This one has no cheeze or sauce...haven't tried it yet but just an idea.
