Yet Another Success Story!

It all started a little over two months ago... I had a gift card for Barnes and Noble that I decided to spend by purchasing The Kind Diet. I had seen it before but didn't believe I could ever change my lifestyle to this. I had come to a point though where I no longer had any other option but to make a change. When I was 16 years old I started having joint pain along with swelling and a list of other things. After months of blood tests, different scans and a number of doctors I still didn't have an answer. The doctors continually tried to put me on different medications and some even said it was probably because I was a bit overweight. In the fall of 2007 I left home for college even though I was still dealing with the pain and was no where near a diagnosis. After one year away I realized that I needed to be close to home where I could find a doctor who would help find the cause of my mysterious symptoms. I finally receieved my diagnosis just a little over a year ago... Lupus. I had no idea what this was or how it would affect my body. So for the past year I have been placed on a number of medications. My story gets better though, I had my usual appointment with my specialist yesterday, who was elated at how well I am doing. Just after being vegan for two months I almost feel like I did before my diagnosis. I have lost 11 pounds and no longer suffer from the excess joint pain I did for a number of years. My doctor also felt that with all of the progress I have made my lupus is not as active as it was and I get to cut my medication dosage in half! My body will never be normal and I have accepted this, but becoming vegan has made me feel so much better. I still have weight to lose and of course would love to transition to becoming a Superhero.

Buying this book was the best decision I have made for myself. Thank you doesn't even come close to the gratitude I have for Alicia and this amazing book!

That's great! Congratulations on all of your success. How are you doing now? Superhero yet? I'm looking forward to being a superhero, but I"m nowhere near there yet.

I am going to show this to my friend ASAP. Her 17 your old daugher just went in for scans and blood tests because of joint pain and back pain. She is very active and has been told she shouldn't ski, run, etc because of all the pain she is in. They don't know what it is yet except that it is an auto - immune disease. They are waiting for test results. I told her about diet and I think they went to see a nutritionist but I am going to show her this and tell her about it. I am so glad to hear you are doing better and I hope it continues for you.

I have been preparing to go vegan. I am presently not eating meat which I have done all my life (I'm 35 so some hard habits to break) but I am so ready for change and I feel good not eating meat any longer. Now time to take the plunge to full on vegan. I keep trying to find the success stories because they inspire me when I am feeling like I can't do it.

Thank you for posting and congrats to you! You have to feel great and so excited for the progress in your health. I will make sure and pass this on to my friend right away!
