So happy to have heard Alicia's message and to be a part of The Kind Life. Growing up in Newfoundland was not the kindest diet although better than some places. Our settlers came from England, Ireland, Scotland, France and Spain so we are definitely a meat and potatoes society. When I first started to cook in my young teenage years I remember telling my mother I didn't like my spaghetti sauce to have meat in it so she would let me make my own tomato based one. And when they would have a full steak, I would only eat a third...so I guess I've been a flirt for a long time hahaha.

My best friend has been Vegan for about 8 years so I had a pretty good introduction and The Kind Diet has just helped to increase my awareness about food and the planet. I always supported his diet as long as he was getting enough protein and would include him in my dinner parties and create a menu entirely for him to go along with the rest of the food.

I ordered the book online and had it shipped to my island because it wasn't at the bookstore. I'm still in my flirting stage and loving every minute of it. There is so much good information I can't wait to get it all inside my "mindgrapes" haha.

Just wanted to say hi and hope everyone has a great weekend.

Cheers,

Shyama

Welcome Shyama from a fellow Atlantic Canadian (from PEI). I am also flirting right now - hoping to cross over slowly but it's going to be difficult to give up some things!

Hello Atlantic Canada from the Pacific, North Vancouver. I am past the flirting point and its easier than you think!! Its a matter of changing your mind set. It's not what you are giving up, it's what you think you are giving up when instead you are gaining a whole lot more.
:) Goodluck!!

These are the first Atlantic Canadians I've found on here, yay! I'm from NB too, and have been vegetarian for 3 and a half years and vegan for almost a year now. I feel great, and I eat so much yummy food! It wasn't hard for me to give stuff up because I replaced it with so many things that taste just as good if not better!

Yay!!!! Look what I started, this is awesome. I had posted and had no responses for the first while. How is everyone doing? I'm still flirting with it, it's tricky when your whole culture is set around meat eating. But one day at a time, at least I'm incorporating better things into my daily life.

ps: the Chocolate-Peanut Butter cups recipe is the bomb!

Greetings from NS. I am on the vegetarian stage and to find some of the ingredints in the food is a challange. It is a little wired to be cooking your veggies and rice along side of the rest of the families steak but it is my new way of life. Next Challange. Easter Dinner.
