Hi Everyone,

I was hoping to get some advice in regards to being tired all the time. I am a 6 week new vegan and can't understand why I always feel tired / exhausted I would think that 6 weeks in I should be getting over the detox phase. I eat lots of veggies, whole grains, beans, drink tons of water, tofu, plenty of iron and B12 liquid as well as Nutrional Yeast so I am not sure what I am doing wrong. If this is a phase I can wait it out a little while longer but if this is how I am going to feel I may need to add some things back. Oh I exerciese regularly.

Any suggested would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks...Marci

I had a similar problem, but I also realized I had changed my sleep habits concurrently. I started waking up at 6:30am, instead of like 11am, and going to bed earlier. I work in the evening, so I was fine all day, but when I got to work, I found myself lethargic.
On top of that, I was exercising more.
I found that smaller more frequent meals helped out a lot. Try not to overload the body with too much food it doesn't need all at once. That may mean planing your meals more and carrying snacks with you all the time.
Also, remember to chew your food. If you're eating nutritional whole foods, you should regain your energy.
Also, make sure your foods don't have sugar hiding in them. Cereal, and soy milk were the foods that surprised me the most.
Sometimes I still don't have energy come the end of the day, but I know it's because I've had a productive day, and not because I'm not eating right.
Maybe something is even stressing you out causing you to waste energy laboring on it.
Thats all I got.
Good luck.

Hi John,

A lot of really good points. However, my sleep habits are the same, I do eat lots of small amounts throughout the day and I have always worked out a lot. Hmmm very frustrating. I will keep at it and hopefully things will change. Thank you for your help.

Marci, check your protein count. when I first replaced the milk with rice milk (it has no protein) I was very tired. Then I changed to soymilk and feel much better. I do not think it is the detox.Kristina

Hi Kristina, You could be right. I do make sure to include protein but maybe it is not enough. I will start keeping track. Thanks...Marci
