I am a new vegan so there are still some non-vegan items lurking in my medicine cabinet. I don't want to throw them out so I have been trying to use them up and in the meantime, find their cruelty-free replacements. This week I came down with a cold and I resisted taking the traditional cold medicines in my cabinet for a full 24 hours. But tonight I need to sleep so I just downed the last few drops of a bottle of Nyquil and some Tylenol PM (forgive me if I pass out on the keyboard!) Now I am wallowing in guilt for doing it and at the same time wondering how I will be more prepared the next time this happens (It will happen again - I work with young kids and my job is a petri dish of bacteria and viruses). Any suggestions for more natural, animal-friendly cold remedies?

no need to feel guilty. for next time try olive leaf. it's a natural antibiotic. you can also take reishi. i take both of these on a regular basis when allergy season hits to boost my immune system. if you live near a whole foods, the people that work in the vitamins sections are usually very knowledgeable. hope that helps.

My philosophy is waste not, want not. Wipe away that guilt and be happy you are using up what you have before you replace it. All part of the program, weed out the old and bring in the new. I have done the same with my cleaning products and other household items.

Thanks for the support : ) I'm feeling a little better today. Maybe I'll take a trip to Whole Foods. They were very helpful when I was looking for vegan multi-vitamins.
