I made it a week before I slipped up and now I am paying for it my stomach feels like it has a brick in it. I went without dairy and meat and yesterday I had some chicken which didn't feel bad at all but then a few hours later I had some cheese and that sure didn't sit well. I was wondering if any one else had any slip ups and what they ate to feel better. I think it was the dairy more than anything I know I am paying for it now. Also I didn't have a problem eating chicken I was wondering if anyone else notice's if there body is kinder to chicken vs. red meat. I am trying to cut it all out but I have a big problem skipping out on chicken. Any help with anything would be greatly appreciated:)

Hey Jodi,

Congrats on working towards making better eating/living choices!

I would definitely take a look at Alicia's book - she has a great series of pages on what to do if you slip. Her tea recipes are great, as Anne as already said.

As far as chicken goes, once I learned that calorie for calorie, chicken meat has as much cholesterol as cow meat, it really changed my view of chicken meat. I went vegan for the animals (been doing it for almost 2 years now), but it wasn't until I did research on the negative health effects of meat, dairy, and eggs that I realized how much good I was doing myself by switching to a plant-based diet.

I would say to just keep trying new foods - new grains, produce, and legumes. If you need any additional reading material, great books to read are Diet for a New America, Skinny Bitch, and Quantum Wellness.

Good luck on your journey, and feel wonderful knowing that any step towards veganism is a step in the right direction! :)

Thanks! I did try cheese again to see if that really was it and right after I ate it my stomach became BLOATED!! I mean I looked like I was pregnant. I always looked like that after I ate and I was use to it just thinking that is how my body works but I noticed that after I started the kind diet that I never looked like that after I ate. I didn't realize it until I ate the cheese and it happened again. I am back full force now. I made some yummy vegan treats today to get me back on track!
