Hey Peeps

Im reading Kind Life at the moment and like others have wanted to become vegetarian for years. I was also told to go vegetarian for a month by my doctor (I have problems with my digestions and by ruling out food groups like dairy and meat one at a time) and i felt really good afterwards. So I thought I that I could really do this! I have some opposition to this.

My partner loves meat and thinks that you need meat in small doses and that I wll miss out on all the good food in life. I said I want to do it to feel good and for religious and moral reasons (after doing a bit of research on the treatment of livestock). This has resulted in a huge arguement. He is normally a very understanding person and I havent asked him to stop eating meat as I think that it is unfair. He is really passionately against this for some reason.

Would like to have some advice on the best way to deal with a stubborn partner and some easy tasty everyday meals to show that I am not missing out on anything.

Thanks!!

Cait

Cait,
I just recently started this diet also and my husband does not understand nor does he want to. I have tried to get him to read books to see where i am coming from and he wont and he makes fun of what I am eating - he loves meat and wont even try anything I make. he says he will support me with anything I do but I think he has this notion in his head that Vegans are wierdo, tree huggers. I was also told by him its fine to be a lacto vegetarian but to go vegan not going to happen...and if we are grocery shopping on our fixed budget he can get meat but I only have an allotted amount for my lifestyle. I am not going back to eating meat ( I use to only eat chicken) nor that lifestyle so he is going to have to accept that- but i Hear you this is hard enough without having your partner/spouses support. So keep your head up and dont give up- thats what i tell myself.
