Hey everyone! So i just made the decision to start giving up all my fur and leather. As a newbie, I was wondering how people made the transition (donating, selling?) and what were some of the first vegan staples you bought? Also, any advice...I'm having some difficulty parting with my favorite belts and boots (especially ones that are eclectic and have sentimental value to me)...thanks so much! Also...haven't told my mom about this yet, advice for how to break it to her (she loves buying me shoes and bags).

i've sold quite a few things to consinement shops. i'm also having a giant yard sale this summer, so lots of purses will go up for sale. the shoes on the other hand are pretty tough. i spend all summer in my birkinstocks!! i've found one pair they have that are made of man made materials....they'll be my next purchase. boots as well will be tough. i've stopped buying anymore leather or suede but i'm not (because i can't afford to) getting rid of all my leather things. it's been over 5 months now, it really is a slow process. as for your mom, i know it's hard to do. my dear husband came home about a month ago with a danier leather bag. i thought it was something for him(he unfortunately is not vegan). he had bought me a beautiful coat (trying to cheer me up from a miserable day) which was of course leather. he knows i'm very serious about this decision, but he just didn't even think about wearing it!! i crushed him so much when i made him take it back.....
