Peach Crumble and Alicia's recipe's

I just made Alicia's "Peach Crumble". It was out of this world YUMMY, but I am wondering if there might be a substitute for the 3/4 cup Safflower oil. This recipe is relatively fat free besides the 12 TBS/3/4 c of safflower equating to 186 grams of Fat. I am not a "no fat" fanatic, but that is a whole lot.

ANY idea's?

hey. i was wanting to make this tonight but have lent the book to a friend, (in a different city) could you please please please give me the recipe?
and in answer to your question.. maybe you could just decrease the amount of oil? im sure it wouldnt affect the recipe too much if you used half a cup or so instead.. im not too familiar with the recipe but its part of the topping right? you could up the amount of another liquid to compensate for it.
that said, safflower oil is one of the healthiest oils out there, chock full of polyunsatuarted fat.
so0000 good for you. so if you cant find any alternative, don't worry about it too much, as that is a VERY healthy fat to use.

i've made the crumble twice. first time i followed the recipe exact, and ended up with tons oof left over topping (which i put in the freezer and used as topping on my oatmeal...yummy) the second time i ended up halving the topping portion and there was still plenty. there's an easy way to lower the fat!

I love this recipe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Deby- personally I liked the fact that is had a lot of topping, I thought it was so good that way but I think that if you are trying to reduce fat/calories or you like your crumble fruitier than that's a good solution.Did anyone used kuzu? I just used corn starch

I have not yet made the peach crumble but you might be able to replace some of the oil with applesauce. I've used applesauce in a variety of recipes in place of "moist" ingredients.

Emily,
I haven't seen kuzu anywhere, but I will probably use arrowroot starch when I make this!

I just picked up Kuzo at Whole Foods. They were out last time I checked. Meanwhile, I proceeded to stock up on Kuchicha Tea. They had a plethora of it last week and were completely out this eveing. Wonder if its Alicia?
