50% Vegan Challenge

I love the book so much, and it really has inspired me to become vegan! I want to take it slowly though, so that it will last (overnight changes don't last for me) . I became vegetarian about a month ago and have been slowly eliminating all other animal products from my diet. Now I'm to the point where I can go an entire day as a vegan. So I started a little challenge for myself to help speed the transition up a bit.

I will be 100% vegan every other day. The other days I will be mostly vegan, but with a few processed foods that I still have on hand and don't want to waste (granola bars with traces of dairy and honey, lean cuisine cheese pizza, microwave popcorn with butter). Meanwhile, I will stop buying anything that has dairy or eggs in it, and when I run out of what I have, I will be 100% vegan all the time!

Just wanted to share my idea with fellow "flirts".

Leah, what a great idea!! I'm going to have to adopt your strategies, I think they are exactly why I'm having some "bad days". I was struggling with the waste of the food I have and felt guilty buying more vegan/kind foods but by easing into the process and easing out the food I have on the shelves it will definitely make my transition easier. I have been on an "obstacle course" with my eating for almost 2 months now... I'll do great for a while then fall off the wagon for a day or 2 then jump back in with both feet. I think your plan will be a huge help for me!!

Thanks for posting!!

I think the most important thing is to be 'kind' to yourself... we can be so hard on ourselves sometimes (especially me)... and sometimes its best to just take baby steps...so that those steps stay ingrained in you!

Great job Leah and Susan. Keep up the good work.

Jazz, thanks!! You are absolutely right.... I am hard on myself as well!! And sometimes that can make things harder!! One day at a time!!

Thanks for the support! I agree, it's important to be kind to ourselves, which is something that I often forget.

I love you're idea! I have to go slowly too, otherwise I just don't stick to things! XD
