hi everyone!
Yesterday I was at Barnes & Nobles and "The kind diet" caught my eye. I opened it and was instantly hooked and decided that this morning I wanted to change my life.
My name is Emily and I am 23 years old. I was brought up extremely unhealthy, although blessed with a high metabolism. Recently my mom and I have been on a mission together to start eating healthy! It has been working and we've helped our family lose a lot of weight too!
I've been pretty much vegetarian, but that doesn't necessarily coincide with healthiness. I have turned to Alicia's book...especially the 3 levels of veganism...and am hoping to put myself on a more strict diet that gets rid of my sugar/carb highs and even cut out fish and dairy from my diet.
I am looking to exercise more and shape up my body a little :) I can't wait for the support on this website and to see how this life style can make my body perfectly run! I look forward to hearing from all of you out there...I know I will have a million questions along the way.

Vegan-ly yours ;)Emily
Hi Emily. Congratulations on your decsion! I too am new to the vegan lifestyle and am also excited. I have "played" with vegetarinism for many years, even going as long as 2 years at a time with it, but always found myself falling back into eating meat, but this time it became a moral decsion and the weight loss and added health are wonderful perks to the moral committment. I got to a point where I could no longer deny the cruelty involved in factory farming, not to mention the environmental disaster we are creating for our future. I commend you and your mother on your new commitment, and together, we can live the life with sucess, health, and moral fortitude. Good luck to both of us!
Hi Emily,
I just got the book on Friday so we are in the same shoes. For the past year I have dealt with unbearable stomach bloating and pain and decided to do something about my diet . I dont feel i was eating bad before and exercise 5-6 days a week, but I realize now after becoming a lacto vegetarian 3 weeks ago that by cutting out poultry(never ate red meat or pork), milk and ice cream(love ice cream) and eating more fruits and veggies my stomach did not hurt anymore. I want to become vegan mainly for moral reasons also- I cant even bear to look at meat anymore knowing how the animals were/ are treated, hence why I got this book, I look forward to sharing this journey with you and questions with you!! I know already I have had a ton. Good Luck to us all!!
