My husband and I LOVE having wine parties but we're having a bit of a dilemma. We usually pair our red wines with crackers, cheese and assorted processed foods. With starting to be vegan, we don't want to continue using those same finger foods. Can you recommend some great vegan treats we can make that will be great with our red wines?

Vegan stuffed mushrooms would pair nicely with a full bodied red wine - Cabernet, Zin or Malbec. I saw a good recipe in the 30's party thread, find it under entertaining. And what about baked smokey tofu chunks?

Cheers!

Kind of depends on the wines you are serving & if you want elegant or fun & funky. There are so many options; I'm anxious to see what others suggest & hear how your first vegan wine party goes!
*(wild rice) stuffed mushrooms
*baked tofu--homemade or organic premade varieties or TKD's pan-fried in rice/corn flour served with dipping sauce
*wraps or rolls, like thai or spring
*http://www.vegetariantimes.com/recipes/10505 I've been dying to try these. (use kind sweetener instead of honey)
*water crackers or crostinis topped with "tuna" salad (usually chickpea) or edamame dip
*endive is an elegant finger food for dips, especially TKD's artichoke dip (Yum)...or hummus
*fruit--depending on the wine
*chocolate
*once, someone brought pancakes with toppings to a party & it was the most random hit. I've always thought minis like these would be fun http://veganyumyum.com/2008/02/easy-weekend-pancakes/
*vegan yumyum also has simple cucumber tea sandwiches that are darling http://veganyumyum.com/2007/03/cucumber-tea-sandwiches/ I wouldn't use Toffuti brand myself, but I've seen a kinder brand or I'd make my own
*croquettes, like TKD's black-eyed peas are awesome. I bet they'd stay warm in a crockpot until guests arrive.

HAVE FUN & good luck!
