Yeah I had problems with the tea people too. I am sooo not about selling anything. Well, except for everything this wonderful lifestyle has to offer and all the good that it does.

Michelle, you're awesome! Thank you so much for suggesting the soup idea. I'd never made my own soup, but the day of your post I went out and bought all of the ingredients. And it was so simple and delicious! And guess what? I've lost three pounds since Monday! Thanks again!

i know it sounds silly...but i never thought of making a huge batch on sundays! And i dont even remember reading it in the book. But...im so glad i read this post! Can't wait to make my huge batch of soup.

I may have to eat a tee bit of baguette with my soup... hope that doesn't alter my weight loss goals. But a french baguette freakin rocks with soup! and life is too short, right? lol.

Jazz- Alicia talks about it in the recipe section. She says she tries to eat soup everyday or something like that. It's not about eating ONLY soup. It's about eating mostly vegetables. And I think the soup helps keep you full. Also there might be something special about the sea vegetables, miso, daikon and such that helps the process (like the carrot/daikon tea). But a little baguette won't kill you. But I' mean A LITTLE cause it's not a whole grain so it's not the best.

I agree with the soup thing, it's just nice to have one already made. I have been making one per week, usually miso. With the miso I leave that out until I reheat and add it at the last moment.
The miso is more of a veggies on hand soup. I sometimes put tofu.

That's a great idea about putting the miso in when you heat it!! I hadn't thought of that.

you can't scrape on your grains though because they have so much fiber in them!!! I've been doing this for two weeks with a combination of 40-50% grains, 40% veggies, and 10-20% beans, pickles, etc. & lost 5 lbs & feel great!

I am a huge soup fan and often make my own. Before turning vegan, I used to enjoy thicker, creamier soups (not so good from the weight loss point of view) but always vegetarian. Does anyone know what I can use instead of milk/cream to get that creamy effect?

I eat about 25% grains. That's what Alicia says she does and so does Jessica Porter, author of The Hip Chick's Guide to Macrobiotics,
