Hey! I am a recently joined the kind life family! I am in a small town called White Rock an hour out of Vancouver, and I was wondering if anyone was from around there and could suggest some places where I can find vegan specialty food? I can't find anything in my local grocery stores!
i'm canadian and just starting out myself....seem to have the same problem finding the foods around here 2.....
Hey,
I'm from Vancouver and I found most of the speciality products from Whole foods. You might also find some at choices, nesters, Save on foods, buy low (brown rice syprup) and possibly superstore
Good Luck!
i have an iga, metro, super c, maxi....that's about it...we did have a bio food store but it closed before i had a chance to go there.....think i can find the foods there??
Hi Tessa. I'm from Abbotsford.
When I first started the vegan lifestyle - more specifically - The Kind Life Superhero recipes, I thought nothing was in my grocery stores because it was all so foreign to me. I even drove into Vancouver in search of ingredients...but, now that I've been doing this for five months, I do spot things in IGA, Superstore, Save On Foods and our local Health Food store. They were there all along, I just didn't know where to look - it was all so overwhelming! So - good luck searching and soon you will have your routine down!
I'm from downtown Vancouver as well and am looking for where to find the umeboshi plums, daikon, and some of the other foreign ingredients for miso soup, weight loss tea etc. Will keep you posted of what i find:)
Daikon is in grocery stores - Superstore, Save On etc. Have not found umeboshi plus though - let us know where you find them....thanks!
I will have to take a closer look! Choices I found was really handy, but I didn't even think about superstore!
Thank you everyone!
whole foods has the umeboshi plums, it's the organic eden brand ( $20 though, using sparingly). Some Japanese or Korean grocerieis would carry them but the ones that I have found there have aspartame in them. I've seen miso soup at IGA as well. I just stock pile the hard to find ingredients. T and T market ( the one by tinsletown and metrotown) might have somethings too
I'm from the Interior and find most ingredients I need from our local health food stores. They've never heard of seitan, though. My daughter lives in Vancouver and buys it from Whole Foods. I also visit our Asian grocery stores and find items I need.
