i became vegan 6 months ago. ive been feeling really great. i'm now 5 weeks pregnant and feel pretty good. the last few days i've just been really hungry and extra tired in the afternoon. i guess i'm just looking for any advice anyone might have for me.
Congratulations! I'm 5 weeks pregnant too and newly vegan. I was a vegetarian when I was pregnant with my son, but vegan pregnancy is all new to me. I've been tired too , but I think that's just my body working extra hard. I've been taking a vegan prenatal vitamin and making sure I get plenty of protein. That seems to give me energy. Is this your first pregnancy?
congrats to you as well:) this is my second pregnancy, i have a 10 year old son. i'm taking a prenatal vitamin as well and a vegan calcium supplement. i have my first appt with a midwife tonight so i'm hoping to ask a few questions. amazingly the tired has subsided, but now i'm suffering with really nasty lower back pain. not fun!!! i'm very happy though that there has been no morning sickness!!! i think i'm good in the protein department, just trying to cover all the bases. here's to an easy pregnancy!!
Congratulations to you both! I recently had my 4th child and am vegetarian (not vegan yet). I felt wonderful being pregnant and doing so knowing I was not harming any other lives in the process. Enjoy your vegan pregnancies, but be prepared for all the comments regarding your diet! People that you don't even know will over hear your conversation and feel the need to but in! Just eat healthy and take your vitamins. I found yoga to really help with the lower back pain. Good luck!
I am reading a great book right now that I wanted to share- The Complete Organic Pregnancy. I picked this up at Whole Foods and it has some excellent information as far as keeping away from certain known toxins. Also good advice in terms of nutrition and exercise. I would recommend this book to anyone thinking of becoming pregnant or newly pregnant.
