So I'm new to the vegan/vegetarian life here in Pittsburgh. I know the Brill Box has a great vegetarian selection, but where else is there to go? Help!!
Hello from a fellow Pittsburgher!
All of the big Burrito Group restaurants: Casbah, Eleven, Mad Mex, Umi, Soba

PF Chang's
Cafe du Jour (South Side)
The Zenith (South Side)
Right by Nature health food store (Strip District)
Whole Foods
Trader Joes
East End Food Co-op
I'll add as I think of more... enjoy!
I'm also from Pittsburgh, although I currently live in California. I just went back to the Burg to visit some friends/family, and this is where I dined. I went to Kaya in the Strip District. They have some great vegetarian dishes, and were willing to make a few changes to make them vegan. I didn't go to this restaurant, but I think it's called Southside Grill? It's obviously on the southside, and I heard they also have vegan options. I went to Happycow.com and found the names of two cafes also. There are definitely options, but it does take some searching.
I also ate a lot of hummus during my visit :)
First, may I saw Pittsburgh is a great city. Also it is super easy to be vegetarian and vegan there. There is a huge whole foods in the highland park area, a trader joes and a market district(organic and whole foods store, slightly pricey tho). THere is a also a co-op in the east end called east end co-op. As for restaurants, in the laurcenville/garfield area there is a vegeterian/ vegan shop called quiet storm.. Oakland has a ton of indian restaurants(i.e. india star, india graden). If you are lookingi for thai a good place is the green mango located in monroeville and edgewood. There are tons of options also be sure to download the Happy cow app on your phone.
