hi everyone - something i have not seen mentioned is when yu wash begin with very warm once you have finished washing and are ready to towel off be sure to close the pores with cool/cold water... this may help with the new breakouts. it is something i learned when selling avin and it does make a difference at least for me!

Cassi, I feel for you girl. I've seen your comments on the threads about your skin. Just a shot in the dark. Did you change your birth control in the past few months? I've read others talking about that as a cause for horrible acne. I hope it gets better for you.

Speaking of reintroducing things and the birth control pill, I think I'm going back on the pill for a few months. I'm getting married in 4 months, and my skin has been atrocious for the past 6 months. I just don't think I can risk it not getting better by then. Detoxing again after my wedding won't bother me nearly as much as it does now. And it seems like a better solution than caving in to animal products or proactiv. Has anyone gone back on the bill after stopping? I feel like if I decide to do it, I need to do it now so that my body gets used to it.

*edit: That was pill, not bill.

i went off the pill for a few months and my skin was badly breaking out until i decided to begin taking it again. i've also found that cutting back on soy products has improved my skin--apparently the estrogen in soy products really affects my hormone balance. anyone else notice this?

Suzy, I did go back on the pill about 6 weeks ago, I had been off since October. I went back on due to this horrible acne arriving in February and it getting progressively worse. I am at a loss for what to do at this point?

Sorry to hear that Cassi. My acne started a little before I went vegan though (almost two months). But what in fish and eggs would essentially improve the problem? Just a thought...Also, I suggest some hot yoga. I started that and using apple cider vinegar at the same time, so I don't know if it was the combination that did the trick, but I noticed that my acne significantly went down....in hog yoga you sweat a TON and really get your blood flowing, so I think you flush out the gunk.

Thanks Jessica, I actually do a workout called theFIRM and I sweat like crazy! Well, getting rid of fish, eggs, and dairy seems to have given me acne, so it seems like adding them back in may eradicate the problem??? Idk? I am thinking of doing a fast to see if it will help detox my systems faster.

Anyone know what type of fast is best and for how long? ie: master cleanse, juice fast, water fast?

Cassi - if eating fish, eggs and dairy kept people from getting acne, can you IMAGINE the ad campaigns those industries would have going on! I honestly don't see how adding those foods will clear your skin. I understand what you are thinking - clear skin when eating them, bad skin when not - but what did you replace those foods with? I would look more to what you added or increased in your diet rather than what you took out. I myself break out when I eat corn, of all things! It took me a while to figure that one out, but corn was the culprit in my case. Something that never bothered you before may be bothering you now - we really change hormonally as we age - I'm one of those who never even had a pimple until my 30s and then BAM - so up until then the corn didn't cause whatever imbalance it does now.

and this is a long thread so I can't remember who said what (!) but regarding the birth control pill, thats putting a synthetic hormone into your body, which your liver than has to metabalize - so being on it can make some peoples skin better, some people end up with worse problems, and coming off of it (or off and then on and then off and then on....) can really throw your system into a tailspin. It can take up to a year to regulate your system after stopping those synthetic hormones, and for many the hormonal imbalance can be reflected in the skin.

What really helped me - before I figured out the corn connection - was finding an amazing facialist and going regularly for a while to help clear the crap outta my skin and it to heal.
