Acne that just won't go away...

Acne is primarly a hormonal issue an imbalance of androgens. The best way to get rid of acne is to support and cleanse the liver.

This can be achieved through many ways but the best is through the use of bitter herbs on the back of the tongue. This causes the liver to "flush/cleanse" and in time the liver can metabolize the excess hormones.

Hi Guys,

I private messaged a Kind Lifer the following but I thought that I would share w/ you all what I wrote....

Hi Kaylee,

Were you able to get the breakouts under control? I noticed when I first went vegan that after a couple of months, I started breaking out horribly --- cystic like you mentioned. My skin was great up until then so I tried to narrow down exactly what had changed and it was SOY! I had never ate so much soy in my life, so even though I wasn't eating all that much, it was alot for my body. I try to avoid soy because of that. Granted, I was on the pill - orthotricyclen-lo ( I actually went off this month so fingers crossed that I don't break out) but I think the soy interupted with the stabilized hormones of the pill and/or my body just reacts to soy with breakouts. Also, I wanted to share that I use African Black Soap...specifically Dr. Wood's African Black Soap with organic shea. I heard about it through this website and I love it!!! I also really liked Erno Laszlo Dead Sea Mud Soap for awhile but eventually found it too $$ and too drying so I switched to Dr. Woods. Also, I positively breakout from egg yolks, shellfish and kelp (seaweed wrap around sushi)...it must have to do with the iodine but eggs and shellfish are an absolute no no for me. I don't eat any now that I'm vegan and I still avoided it before I was vegan, but I thought I would let you know in case you ate eggs at all. I hope this helps!! xox -Kristina

If you break out from iodine it could be that you have bromide, fluoride or heavy metal problems. Does this occur with all sea vegetables?

Soy actually balances hormones estrogen in particular, so it was probably likely that soy is an allegen to you. Soy is quite a common allergen, which is a shame as its a good vegan food. The hormones in particular which cause acne are androgens.

I too found out I was severely intolerant to soy (and dairy and eggs and wheat...)

I had my blood tested and now that I know, I avoid those products and I'm a soy/gluten-free vegan. Which probably sounds impossible but it's not. If you want to try kicking soy and/or wheat out and have no idea what to make, check out my website www.thatcutelittlevegan.com

But give up soy and wheat for a few weeks and add one back in at a time. If you eat dairy, give that up too. If I eat a bagel, I will have mosquito-bite looking bumps on my face within days so I just avoid wheat altogether. But soy was the main culprit... good luck!

I was going to suggest not using oily sunblock but sb said it before me:). I don't use make-up on a daily basis and my skin is perfect (it looked terrible some years ago when I was a non-vegan make-up addict). I only use vegan make-up when it's necessary, if I'm going to a party or an event. I would suggest cleaning your face before going to bed and if you use hair products you should wash your hair before going to bed too since it's going to have contact with your face while you are sleeping.

I have a mask recipe that works great for me, it's crushed strawberry with lemon juice, apply it and leave it for 40 min. twice a week (or more). It'll make your skin look better (well, it works for me :P).
