Hair dye

I'm planning on trying to become pregnant in a few months. I was highlighting my brown hair blonde for years, but recently dyed it back to my natural hair color and plan on letting it grow out. Is it harmful to dye your hair while pregnant? Or does anyone know of any safer alternatives while my hair is in the growing out phase?
I have the same question! I have been highlighting mine for years and I have heard you shouldnt dye your hair while pregnant so I would love some advice.
I've been told that highlighting exposes you to the LEAST amount of chemicals since much of it doesn't really touch your scalp. But even with that, I've heard you shouldn't color at all during the first trimester. It seems like doctor's recommendations vary - some say you shouldn't at all, and some say just not during the first trimester. With my last pregnancy, I just decided not to color at all. I did go ahead and get highlights, and later all over color while nursing though.
I have a 22 month old baby boy, and I colored my hair throughout my pregnancy. There has been no link between hair dye and birth defects. I did a lot of research but none seemed to really have merit. Doctors vary on their recommendations but my doctor did not say that I couldn't color my hair during my first trimester. Good luck and I hope this helps!
Please, please use only the simplist and most organic dyes...Dye is one of the filthiest products out there and has been linked to cancer - including childhood lymphoma - since 1994.
There are plenty of scientific studies out there, but just please keep that body clean for your baby.
I have actually been meaning to write a blog on green hair dyes, so this is the perfect motivation - thanks, and i'll give you a shout when i get it put together.
