Nauseous after yoga....HELP!!!!

Today I ventured to my sister's gym to join her in a vinyasa yoga class. Having never done yoga before, I was nervous, but it wasn't too bad!!! I did A LOT better than I thought I was going to do!! The only bad thing....I feel extremely nauseous now. I tried to eat, but thought I wasn't going to keep the food down...
Anyone else get that way??? Why do I feel like this!?!?!
Did you eat beforehand? It's really common to feel that way on a full stomach - you should always practice on an empty stomach.
On Saturday my daughter invited me to a boot camp workout that she and a friend are doing. This was a mother's day treat. I went through the whole workout, it was about 1 1/2 - 2 hr workout, and then during the cool down, I too became nauseous. I talked to a friend about this and she said that lots of people experience this after a hard workout. Have you ever heard of athletes who work out hard and then go and throw up? It is the stress that you have put your body through. My nauseousness went away after awhile. Hope you are feeling better.
If you've never done yoga before, it could be that you used a lot of muscles and tendons that don't normally get used. Yoga can stir up a lot of energy, especially a vinyasa yoga class. I think that we store various things (such as negative experiences) in our bodies, and sometimes when you do yoga those energies can be released. I would just take it easy tonight, eat light, get lots of fluids. If you go again, maybe talk to the instructor about it.
I have not had the experience of feeling nauseous, but I have felt "out of whack" or even slightly depressed after yoga before. Fortunately, those times are few and far between though. Hope you feel better! :)
drink lots-o-water for 36 hours after yoga.
Thanks so much for all the advice! I figured it had something to do with using muscles and tendons that I don't usually use. I went to bed at like 7 and woke up ready for a new day! Had my homemade miso soup for breakfast, then conquered an aquarium field trip with my students. It was so sad, BTW....they had saved a blind sea turtle and seals with major cataracs. Usually I don't like going to places like that, but hearing that they saved animals made it worth while.... That and seeing my kids pet a horseshoe crab...HILARIOUS!
