Ok, I think this is why I can't make the conversion to superherodome, WHY ONLY ONE FRUIT PER DAY??? If I have a protein shake (made with hemp and chai seeds, dried fig, frozen berries and usually a banana, I am over my allotment already. Eats greens is just not going to work for me in the morning, I love them for lunch and dinner. I think fruit is vegan, it's natural, what gives???? It actually helps curb my sweet tooth. It all seems a little neurotic to me to avoid it.

Correction- eating greens in the AM is not going to work for me. I'll do oatbran (which btw is this whole grains? or oatmeal is fine here and there too. I usually put a little dried berries in for sweetness.

I have the exact same question. I'm currently searching for information about how sugar functions in our bodies in the form of fruit. I know that fruit is supposed to be occasional and the elimination of sugar is ideal--but what about things like dates? I know they are completely full of sugar, but is this sugar in some way better for our bodies because it comes in a whole food with other nutrients? That was always my interpretation. What I am assuming, however, is that fruit (being more sugary and acidic with no complex carbs or protein) throws our bodies out of balance slightly, requiring us to meet that swing with another swing (ie, salts or more sweet things).

Hey Kaylee-

it's all so confusing because every source has different suggestions. Thrive diet is high on the raw foods, Skinny Bitch, fruit is recommended, three per day, Kind Superhero, more grains....
I think what I will do is combine the best of all of it for what will work for me. I find when I feel crappy just go with what you feel you need. Like I was feeling snively and ate a macro dinner and felt so much better. Sometimes I feel like I need tons of fruit, go with that. ...etc.

yeah, I definitely agree. Obviously everything in moderation, but I definitely follow what my body is telling me as well. Some days I just feel the need to eat more fruit than normal, and I go with it, getting back to a more macro-superhero oriented diet.

From personal experience...I lose more weight when I eat fruit. If I follow the Super Hero, or even a Vegan diet with all the processed soy foods, I gain weight and can not go to the bathroom. If I eat only fruit before lunch and then soups and salads for lunch with a hearty dinner, I lose about 5lbs. a week. Fruit does not hurt you and the nutrients are totally worth the natural, God given sugars. I just can not handle all of the grains, I do love my greens, but I do not have the body, metabolism, or digestion to handle a lot of carbs. Of course this only my opinion, and a tad bit of education in the health and nutrition field, but I really get tired of hearing that fruit is the devil...it really isn't. But like anything else...Moderation is the key to life in general.

In my life, eating like a superhero is mostly eating local, fresh fruits/veggies, brown rice, and beans. I eat about 1/4 cup brown rice with my stir fried veggies or in a nori wrap. Or an ezekiel sprouted grain tortilla with veggie fajitas. I try to stay away from too much processed food. If I don't know what the ingredients are in a package, I don't eat it. Unfortunately, I used to work for a major cosmetic company so I do know what many of the ingredients are in the package. hahaha

I try to stay away from dried fruit because I feel it loses many of its benefits. For breakfast, I may eat oatmeal with blueberries or apples or even a banana on it. A fresh, raw piece of fruit is heaven!!!

I try to stick with food that is closest the way God intended the food to be. It's what has worked for me and makes me feel like a superhero. I used to be permanently disabled and had limited use of my right arm. Through meditation, massage, and eating like a superhero, I now teach 2nd graders and surf. We are all different and I think superhero may be different for each of us.

Macro recommends limiting fruit and I've found that useful. Fruit is only in season for a small portion of the year and it's cooling. I think that a lot of fruit balances out a lot of meat-eating in our culture because meat is usually warming (this is based on chinese medicine and I've found it to be true for me). So I get too cold with a lot of fruit and too cold with even small amounts during cooler seasons. I think my kids seem more whiny after a lot of fruit sugar too. However, it seems clear to me that if more fruit works for you, you should eat it and pay attention to see if any of those subtle effects are taking hold of you. "Neurotic" though sounds extreme just because limiting fruit doesn't work for you.

So I'm only a 17 year old, but I've studied nutrition insanely for my age. I beleive that everyone has their own needs, and if eating fruit either helps you maintain regularity, and controlability of your craving, eat it. I find that afew raisins or berry(afew, being very little) are helpful in maintaining the flow of digestion and craving contol. Befor I went full blown vegan I would have swing cravings for cheese and fruit. Keeping your bodys balance while fallowing dietari guidelines is good. I also have better regularity with alittle fruit in every meal like Cheryl King. try afew berrys in your morning grains or salad. Maybe afew slices of fruit here and their at every meal. For me I have fruit with everything I eat if I feel my mind and body needs it, but keep it to small servings so I dont actually overgo the 1 fruit for the day. I have being trying to go superhero for afew weeks now, We all slip up but being vegan is still a great feat for yourself, if its not good enough, just fallow afew superhero guidelines. I've maintained the same weight for 2 or 3 months now, not fluctuating more than 2 or 3 pounds in each week. So fruit is okay, but everyone has thier needs.=] Hope it helped. Its all about love and kindness to all.
