I'm hearing talk about new vegans skipping periods; what about getting two periods in a month? Since I have become vegan goin on two months I have gotten two periods a week apart. Has that happened to anyone and does anyone know if that is "normal"?????

When I first went vegan, I had a period that lasted a month - no kidding! I just think it was all the junk coming out of my body and your hormones adjusting. After that, it evened out for me, and my cycles went back to their normal length. The big difference though being that I quit having really bad pms, bad cramps, heavy flow, etc. All that went away within a couple months or so. So, in answer to your question, yes I do think it's normal. :)

Nicole thank you so much for answering my question; I just needed to know that i was not the only one. I had a feeling that it was due to the change and its good to hear others experiences. I appreciate your comment.

Your first period could also be ovulatory bleeding - perfectly normal, but some girls bleed a little when their bodies release the egg, which is typically about 12 days before your period, so you could just have a short luteal period...check out Taking Charge of Your Fertility - it's an incredibly informative and empowering book. anyhow - hope that helps!
