Hey everybody! I'm a new vegan....1 month actually. I definitely wanted to do my research and go into this with as much health and nutrition information as possible. I got a wonderful book that I feel like is a must have for all vegans really, but especially new ones...to make sure you're really getting all the vitamins, minerals, etc. you need.
The book is called BECOMING VEGAN the complete guide to adopting a healthy plant-based diet by Brenda Davis, R.D. (registered dietician) and Vesanto Melina, M.S., R.D.
Please check it out! I got it for $19,95 from Barnes & Noble
It has really taught me a lot and got me on the right track. It's easy to be vegan, but it's harder to do it right! Check it out!
Thanks for the recommendation, Stephanie. :) Ever since I read The Kind Life I've started to notice all the great books on being vegan and macrobiotic that are out there. I'm really excited for Neal Barnard's new book coming out early June, The Get Healthy, Go Vegan Cookbook. I work at Barnes & Noble, so I'm surrounded by all these great books; it's hard not to go crazy and buy everything. :)
Oh wow, yeah, if I worked there I WOULD buy everything in the store! lol I have 2 more cookbooks I got from Amazon on the way. I'll have to post again once I get them and let everyone know how they are. I'm pretty picky, so I figure if I think it's good, anybody will! I'll have to keep my eye out for his new book!
I just got Neal Barnard's cookbook yesterday at work--just in time for Employee Appreciation, so extra discount! :) It looks really good...& all the recipes have the calorie & nutrition information so it's easier to plan if you're trying to lose weight-which I definitely am!! :)
