Maple sugar

Can I use a different sugar if the receipe calls for maple sugar?

I have been looking for maple sugar everywhere! I can not find it .... Gah.

I found Maple Surgar on the internet, but it was very expensive. I did make the oatmeal cookies. I have some "surgar in the raw" that I needed to use up, so I used that and they were good, but not as healthy!

Apparently you can get maple sugar at Whole Foods (although I haven' t looked yet)
But I was browsing the ROM gift shop today and found some there. 7.99 for a little box - I'm not exactly sure how much was in it though..
