I used to have normal blood pressure. Then, my first pregnancy sent it sky high and it never came down. I was told by my doctor that BP meds would be a fact of life for the rest of my life. I started taking Lisinopril (20mg/day). In February 2009, my BP was starting to creep up, so my doctor doubled my dosage.
Six months later, I developed a cough that wouldn't quit. My doctor ran a multitude of tests and found nothing. He gave me a prescription for a cough syrup with Codeine (umm...hello?!). In November, it was still there - 3 months later! I made an appointment with a PA at my doctor's office. In the first 5 minutes, he informed me that a side effect of Lisinopril is a nagging cough. (WHY didn't the doc who prescribed the med know that?!). He changed my prescription to Diovan. One week later, I was in the ER having a severe allergic reaction to it. It was time to find another way to go.
I did a truckload of research online. I went to the local health food stores and had consultations with the experts there. I bought supplements and starting watching how much sodium I was eating.
A week later, it was still way up there (170s/120s). Time to talk to my chiropractor. He is extremely knowledgeable in most everything health related. I needed someone I trust to tell me that I CAN get it under control without drugs. And he did.
In January, I read Alicia's book and immediately went vegan. After about a month of my body detoxing, my BP started slowly coming down. In April, I added in a daily walk. Now I'm getting readings as low as 139/96. YAY! It's working! I'm so close I can almost taste it. And I'm so proud to know I did it without drugs. How cool that simply removing animal products from my diet could have this affect. I haven't seen my doc since the ER incident. But now, I look forward to showing him that high BP doesn't have to lead to a lifetime of meds.
Thank you, Alicia!http://tamiespears.vox.com

Wonderful news!

Vegan is a great way to remove many of the dietary causes of hypertension. Superhero (tweaked to reduce sodium) is the cure. The superhero plan is the best way to reverse vascular disease (the first sign is elevated BP). Some patients see results after two weeks on superhero.
