I recently got engaged and my wonderful meat loving fiance agreed to have a vegan wedding because he knows how important it is to me. I am having trouble now finding vegan caterers or venues that even know what vegan food is in my area so I was wondering if anyone has some suggestions for me? Im looking to have the wedding in South Florida preferably Broward or Palm Beach County, I can go down to Miami though if i find a great place with options! Thanks for any advice!
Hi Christine! I'm not sure about actual venue locations but check out Sublime in Fort Lauderdale for catering. Darbster in WPB and 4th Generation in Boca also might cater a fancy event like a wedding. If I had my choice, though, 4th Generation would win hands down. The food is so fresh, organic, and amazingly delicious.
and you have an awesome fiance for agreeing to a vegan wedding :) congrats!
Thanks so much! I will look into those places :)
I've never been to 4th Generation but I've been to Sublime and personally I don't really like it that much. The food isn't bad it's just that they used to have an AMAZING chef but they changed chefs and ever since I always leave disappointed.
Hi Christine,
I live in Plantation. I recently attended a vegan engagement party at a private home. It was catered by Temple Soleil in Hollywood & the food was Fabulous! There is also a Raw food restaurant in Plantation called Green Wave Cafe. The food is yummy & they do cater but nothing is cooked. There is also a veg restaurant in Sunrise called Simply Natural Cafe. They have raw, vegan, vegatarian & organic fish, chicken & beef. I eat there alot and i know they would cater for you. Hope it helps & congrats!
Oooo Myra all those places sound awesome! I live in Jupiter but will definitely be making the trip down there to try Green Wave and Simply Natural ASAP!!!
Emily, I've had mixed feelings about Sublime too. The sublime loaf, mac and cheese, cauli mash, and quinoa sushi were awful - and I mean AWFUL! The portobello stack was good, but waaaay overpriced for such a small dish. The frito misto appetizer, tuscan quiche, enchiladas, and asparagus are all to-die-for though, so I go whenever they have a special event or presentation. I love that the profits go back to the animals. I would have loved to try the food before the staff change :( Why must everyone always ruin a good thing?
Congratulations Christine! I do vegan catering, but I just recently moved to LA! I've lived in South Florida my whole life until recently. I'm going to brainstorm a bit and see what I can come up with as far as vegan catering.
As for Sublime- it has changed hands a few times I believe and since then it hasn't been the most consistent when it comes to taste and quality.
I'll do some thinking as to what other places may do vegan catering.
hi, the only vegan food i've ever found in miami is at the Standard hotel right off South Beach. They have a good number of vegan options and it's delicious but probably way too simple and limited for a vegan event. Does anyone have any vegan recommendations for Miami? Just moved here from NYC last year and are desperate to find some.
Hii everyone! I am so excited to see the South Florida raw vegan love! I live in Boca Raton and I am a raw vegan chef myself. I agree with everyone about Sublime, people seem to either love it or hate it. As far as 4th, LOVE LOVE LOVE! I have yet to go up to Darbster, but might attend a raw meetup there in July. How is the food there? A lot of raw offerings? Simply Natural, I have heard about, but have yet to make it down there. To the Animal Lover, in Miami South Beach try Juice and Java. They are not full vegan, but do offer . I also know there are places south of South Beach in the gables, but I am not sure of names. Glaser Farms has a market on the weekends. I haven't been there yet, but I heard it's worth going. Hope this helps! And Christine, congrats congrats! What an exciting time in your life, especially when you get to stay vegan. :) Cheers! To everyone's good health and happiness!
I took my mom to Darbster in West Palm Beach last weekend, and we both loved the food. We ordered the yummy gazpacho, the tempeh reuben, and the palm cake sandwich. Supposedly the palm cake sandwich is their most popular lunch sandwich, and I can see why-- it was delicious! I cannot wait to go back.
