I am in High School and my mom and I are both pretty new to this whole vegeterian thing, does anyone have any ideas about what I could pack for lunch besides the same old peanut butter and jelly or bannana? I also wanted some ideas for when I head off to college next year.

Thank you!!

I was a vegan throughout highschool and yes it can be very challenging packing your meals every day but here are some quick easy alternatives that don't need heating.
get creative with sandwhiches- garlic humus and some sprouts is super yummy, vlt sandwhich (veganise, lettuse, tomato, fakin bacon)
anything is good in a wrap- I'll put whatever I have in the fridge together for a wrap- beans, veggies, whatever
salads are always a staple- making a big bowl that you can grab out of for a few days helps especially on mornings when you're running late
breakfast for lunch is always fun- soy yogurt, fruit and granola mixed together; cereal and a thermus of soy milk
stirfry- brown rice or udon noodles with some steamed veggies and soy sauce tastes just as good cold as it does warm
college can be a challenge depending on where you are going- I'm going to college in Philly in the fall and although there aren't many choices outside of salad at the cafeteria, it's a big city and there are tons of vegan-friendly grocery outlets. The Gobble Green (I think thats what its called) company that sponcers this website also has a catering plan for college students to deliver vegan meals right to your dorm.
Good Luck!!

Thank you SO much. That helped a bunch. I am going to college in San Antonio, there are tons of super good stores that I just looked up.(: I'm really worried about finding good food when I go to school, but hopefully it'll all work out! Thanks for your help!!

Two books you need to get: Vegan Lunch Box and Vegan Lunch Box Around the World. So many great Ideas! Both by Jennifer McAnn who has a blog spot also. http://veganlunchbox.blogspot.com/

Oh I forgot to mention a great book by PETA- the Vegan College Cookbook. It has tons of great recipes that use super cheap and accessible ingrediants and the only tools you will need are a refrigerator and a microwave :)
