Umeboshi plums - do you eat the leaves and stems???

I'm wondering if we can eat the leaves and stems of the umeboshi plums. I'm sure they weren't put in the container just for decoration, but are they edible? Even if they're not meant for us to eat, I'll just give them to my worms to turn into fertiliser for me :-)
