Hello everyone!

it was so easy for me to be superhero for a while, then sugary vegan treats made their way into my life, and that was okay for a while.

but now i've had some bummer life events, and even just being Vegan is hard! i broke up with my boyfriend, and i've been cutting my feelings off from the world with a lot of bread products, not much cooking, caffeine, and dairy.

i want to ease back into whole grains and veggies!

any similar stories? any words of kind wisdom?

peace

Hi Nazarena,

I agree with Manya! Just the fact that you posted this means that you are ready to dive beack in so go for it! Try to give away any un-kind foods and get back in the kitchen with wholesome goodness all around you. I have days when sometimes i think it would be SO much easier to just go back to my old eating habbits. But every time i defeat these negative thoughts by literally squashing them in my head (visually! It works!) i end up feeling that much more powerful and committed to the plant based journey. I'm so sorry you have gone through a rough patch and I hope you are feeling better. Just think how magical you will feel once you get back on the happy vegan wagon full force! good luck and much love, :)

Nazarena, I know how you feel. I began my vegan journey right before my boy friend and I broke up. We lived together and I was used to cooking for both of us. And so I had a total change in eating/cooking habits. But instead of giving up on my new healthy diet, I researched the benefits of veganism, and went to different food shops I wouldn't normally go to. And it occupied a lot of my time, and took my mind off of the relationship. I think focusing on what I was eating, and making sure it was high quiality food, made my feel better physically, which made me feel better emotionally. I know it can be hard to keep up your motivation, and get off the couch, but it is well worth it. Trust me! stick to a food routine, and it will make you feel better. Maybe invite some girlfriends over and cook together! or just make a meal for a family member or friend. Seeing them appreciate your food will increase your motivation to cook healthy vegan food. good luck!

I'm on a constant roller coaster of ups and down. Some weeks I'm great at being superhero, other weeks I'm fine at being Vegan and then me and my boyfriend will go to our favorite sushi resturant and bam! a whole lot of fish later I'm completely lost.

Like Alicia says, being Vegan (or superhero) is a journey not a destination. That really helps me when I start craving sugary foods or my lifestyle gets too crazy to concentrate on cooking.

Most important thing: DON'T beat yourself up. You're doing great, just give your body what it deserves.

peace and love

Wow...Alicia the Kind Ones said it best, but I'll just add this as a many-times-fallen (and no doubt will do so again) veg/vegan angel: gain strength from every good decision - they're powerful, cummulative, and ya know what, they don't happen all the time and that's more than ok. :)

As Tali said (hey, I have a niece-in-law named Tali!), I figure just the fact we're here and trying puts us in pretty darn good stead - and damn good company! ;)

Just do your best! Thats all you can do. Maybe just try being a laid back vegan for a bit and allow yourself all the treats you want until you're feeling better. Sending love and hugs! The universe loves you!
