Question about egg whites and crusts....

Does anyone know what can be used to brush on top of pastries or crusts instead of egg white?
Hi,
I'm so sorry I accidently flagged your question as "inappropriate" and now do not kow how to rectify it. Actually I wanted to know the same thing, what can be used insead of egg. For instance when making patties using nut log, how do I get the nut log mixture and rice to stick together without egg and also what about making cakes,without eggs?
I wil try an find out how to "unflag" your question-sorry!
