i just began a vegan lifestyle about 3wk ago i thought i would miss meat and dairy but i dont my husband joined in about a week ago and he as asked me from now on to cook vegan dinners and make vegan lunches for him but im having a hard time getting my 11 year old to join in. my 15mo is just really starting to eat so it doesn't bother her and the twins they are only 2 mo so they really dont count either although they drink soy formula any suggestions on getting my 11 y.o. in on our new eatting habits
I have a 3yo and a 7yo, both boys. So not quite to the 11y mark (kids are so very different at every age). What has worked for us is having the kids help as much as possible in the kitchen, I take them with me to the farmers markets, and we planted a "salad table" this spring.
For my kids getting them involved in as many of the food oriented activities as possible and age appropriate has feuled their interest beyond just eating the foods. It has prompted more questions than I could have ever imagined. I have found that through their questions, and trying to research their answers we have learned more than we would have without them, and really reaffirmed the choices weve made. They seem to have a genuine interest in the whys and hows when I gave them more hands on opportunities. Granted my oldest is younger than your oldest, and you may face more opposition than I did.
I wish you luck!
