Hello, I am a new kind lifer and new vegetarian working on going vegan. It's been about a month and I love it so far. Amazingly, I walked through 29 years of life with no concept of how cruel the factory farming industry is, and I really never stopped to think about the dead animal on my plate. Well, I think I did a few times...but like so many people "didn't want to know" and just kept on eating it. Because really, we all KNOW a little bit. Anyway, I watched several videos, and learned and learned and here I am! That crazy thing is, prior to thinking about EATING RIGHT, I really didn't think about how food had an impact on the environment. And then I started learning about the environment in general and....pandora's box has been opened!
I have a gas guzzling Toyota 4Runner SUV. I bought this two years ago and it is paid for. At the time, I only traveled 7 miles to and from work each day, no traffic. I reasoned that it was okay to get an SUV because I wasn't really driving far at all, and I liked the way it looked (bear with me I am new at all this, so please be nice!!! I know that is stupid!) Since then, I have been promoted and I now travel probably 50-75 miles per day, in and out of stop and go traffic, multiple times per day.
So I looked at the Honda Insight and Fit, the Insight is a hybrid, the fit is not, but it gets like 3 times what my SUV gets in gas mileage. I am torn though. I LOVE my Toyota...and it's paid for...and if I trade it in...isn't someone else just going to put it on the road?
I could trade it and buy the insight or fit outright with about 3500 in cash.....what would you guys do? (this is probably a rhetorical question) Thanks for your "insight" :)
