how i got rid of acne cheaply!

i started getting breakouts in march which was weird since i never really had a problem with acne before. i'd get a few pimples but they'd be gone in a few days and it would only be one or two. i thought this was my body detoxing but after a month, i got worried. i spent a lot of money on natural skin care (suki, juice beauty, osmosis, even splurged on tammy fender.. so out of my budget!) .. the acne would die down but come back tenfold! i got a facial and the esthetician told me i needed to drink more water - which i already do (i drink a lot of water!) i was getting really hopeless when at june, i still had the problem that i could barely hide since it was so bad. i almost made an appointment with my dr to see what was going on.
at this point it started to get really hot around here and i had been drinking tea every morning at work. i decided to buy some barley tea to make iced tea. i bought the large bags that i could put in my bottle and refill it when i was done. i swear, only after a few days my acne died down. i know barley tea is really beneficial for skin but come on.. this was amazing! now it's been a week and a half and i'm only left with scars (which the tammy fender does really help on, but too expensive to be part of my regular skincare regime.)
i thought i'd share this with everyone who had acne troubles. not sure if it will work for you, but i figure if i tried everything and it wasn't working, then this must be some kind of miracle drink. i also started using coconut oil (the same jar i use for cooking!) to moisturize since when it was cold and dry my skin needed desperate moisture and it not only absorbs quickly, but smells so good! who knew that great skin could come so cheaply?
Hi, C Lo - a question: I''ve never heard of Barley Tea - does that come in regular tea bags, or loose leaf? If loose leaf, how much did you use to make your tea?
Thanks!
Seriously? I'd never had issues till going vegan... and I eat fairly well. (not too many "fake/substitutes" (occasional Gardein)
It's been driving me insane! I will have to give this a go.... but please- honestly... is it gross?!
I'm a wuss when it comes to trying new things... I still stare at my jar of dried Hijiki in my cupboard~ waiting for the day to come along to try it!! ;)
Hi Michaela.. I bought these same exact kinds: http://www.amazon.com/House-Mugicha-Barley-large-bags/dp/B0002BKIRW .. I have a 25 oz bottle at work that I drink out of all day and I just keep the bag in there. It lasts about 4-5 refills. the first fills are really roasty and dark but i like my tea like that! you can probably buy smaller bags and take them out if you don't like your tea too dark.
Rachel - I know.. the same thing happened to me! The taste is different but I really like it now. Try adding a little sweetener like stevia or agave to it and you might like it that way. It definitely isn't as pungent as hijiki i promise!!
I will have to try that. I swear by apple cider vinegar. After I wash my face, while it is still wet, I put a little bit in my hands and splash it in, wait a second then splash with water. It helps to balance the PH on your skin.
wonderful news! will get right on the barley tea train for sure. Anne, I also have had great success with vinegar but will add the barley tea into my routine also, the more anti-acne weapons in my arsenal the better!
Just tried barley tea today and its delicious! Its supposed to be great for your hair too. Hopefully it clears up my skin as well!
Can you find barley tea in the grocery or health food stores??? Or is it something to purchase on-line. My face could really use a little help. I am also going to try the apple cider vinegar. I am 47 years old!!!! Shouldn't I be passed the acne stage!!!!!!!?????????
Thank you for the tip. My acne is really bad right and think my body is detoxing from all the years of animal products. I also reading that Oatmeal can help with it. Has anyone try it? I will define give the tea a try and the apple cider vinegar.
I saw a lot of posts about apple cider vinegar...i was wondering how you folks use it. to wash your face, as toner? thanks.
