Since becoming vegan (I'm about 40 - 60% superhero and working on going farther with it) I've noticed that if I have a a couple glasses of wine at night on the weekends I feel absolutely horrible the next day. Like beyond hungover. Has anyone else noticed this?
YES! one beer and i can't wake up the next day. crazy!
Absolutely. I've never been a big drinker, mostly because I don't like the taste of most alcohol and I can't have wine because of migraines, but I used to, on ocassion, have a margarita. My boyfriend and I used to make them maybe once a week during the summer, but now, one sends me into a sluggish, sickish spiral for hours. Needless to say, I don't touch alcohol anymore.
Not so much hungover for me, but my allergies seem to be out of control the next day. Stuffy nose, itchy watery eyes, the works. No fun... totally makes it not so worth it! Plus I can't seem to keep weight off if I drink even a little bit.
No, actually I can take alcohol much better :) Not too much though, but I never drank much... A few glasses and its ok :)
I have also seem to become more tolerant. I live in Amsterdam and just spent the last month rooting for Holland to win the World Cup soccer championship in South Africa. While watching the matches, I've had more beer in the past month that I would usually consume in several months (which is not really all that much) and have never had a problem which can't be said for my friends and neighbors.... And just to be complete... Spain won last night 1-0...
Heee Lynette, I am a Dutch girl! I share your experience. Balen (bummer), he? :(
Complete bummer! My BF is dutch and we're currently living in South America, so it was hard to see everyone cheering for Spain :( Oh well..it was a wild ride - LOVE the World Cup!
I was going to suggest that perhaps the crummy hangover post drinking redwine is due to the sulphites in it. Try organic sulphite-free wine before you cut it out all together :)
I've been vegan quite some time, currently not drinking alcohol but in the past (and future I'm sure!) do - I stick to vodka without a mixer - its the sulphites/sugar/crap that I think gives most people the hangovers. If you want a cocktail - try a nice organic vodka with some club soda and a lemon.....yummy! also keep in mind that if you eat while consuming alcohol, it will make the food affect you even more - so if, for example, you have a sensitivity you are unaware of the say wheat, it would impact you more if you drank beer or had pasta with your wine - and that might be what part of your hangover symptoms are-
and we were rooting for holland too- felt the ref was very biased!
Somehow we got from drinking less to drinking-tips :)))
Thx everyone for their support for the team from my country the Netherlands :) I thought so too about the ref, but thought I am biased, so hearing it from some else is balm to the wound ;))))
