Vegan cane sugar question/confusion

Hi all,
Hoping some of you (Alicia included?) can shed more light on VEGAN CANE SUGAR. I had a coupon for it at Whole Foods, so I bought a huge 4-pound bag of the private label brand yesterday, but then I started thinking it looked a lot like plain 'ole white sugar, and that it might be bad for me. (Probably didn't help that they had it on the bottom shelf next to the pink and white bags of C&H from my childhood.)
I paid particular attention to Alicia's discussions on sugar when reading The Kind Diet, as I'm very sugar sensitive, and it's probably my worst evil. So now I'm sitting here wondering if the vegan cane sugar I just lugged home is going to be just as bad for me as the crackhead white sugar you can buy at any mainstream supermarket. ???
I don't have the budget to buy maple sugar, but I do get organic agave at Costco from time to time. Only trouble is, I've been puzzled about how to accurately substitute liquid sugars for crystal sugars in many recipes, particularly baking (breads, cookies). Not sure things will turn out okay. As such, I've been using turbinado sugar and brown sugar, but I know those are probably not good for me, either.
Any knowledge/insights anyone has on this are much appreciated.
Be well, Molly
