Leather Items I Already Own

Wow, so many great thoughts here! Personally I avoid leather items-obviously because they are nasty and cruel. But I never have thrown away clothes, shoes, or purses unless they were completely ruined. I have recently donated or given away my leather items. I enjoy showing off my vegan purses, shoes, and coats because they're INSANELY cute and I feel like I am able to advocate my lifestyle better! I used to get frustrated thinking that no matter what I did I was harming animals. But I have seen the light and the more I know, it only gets better. Anyway, I think most agree that any little thing is a step in the right direction :)

P.S. I have a nasty ugly black leather couch that was left in my friends new house, so she gave it to me because she didn't need it and I didn't have one. It's hideous and uncomfortable and not luxurious at all (although originally VERY pricey). I think I am donating it to Salvation Army, only because I can't stand the darned thing. I don't regret having taken it though, because it serves as a reminder that leather is all around NASTY! Better in someone elses living room than a garbage heap though.

Hi everyone, I have been a vegetarian for years and now decided to take the next step and become vegan for 2011 :-) I am having the dilema of the leather items I own, I dont buy leather anymore but used to be ignorant that its a by-product of the meat industry and thats how I justified buying it. I am anoyed with myself but I refuse to buy it now (eventually seen the light).

To replace the items I have would cost a fortune which unfortunatly I dont have :-) I dont want to waste them but feel bad about wearing them, think I will carry on wearing what I have and over time replace with non leather alternatives. But if anyone comments on liking them I will make sure they are well aware of my objection to buying more and the cruelty involved in leather, will be abit of a contradiction tho....do as i say not as I do kina thing....its so hard
