Carnival Cruise Line - VEGAN Friendly!

I just went on a cruise with my husband to the Western Caribbean. I was super psyched of course, but a little nervous about eating. The buffet lines didn't have much, but there was a full salad bar with nuts & beans, an oatmeal bar with toppings, and tons of fruit. I told the hostess in the dining room the first night and after that was treated like a queen! I was served 2 meals per night, plus they made all the soups special with soy milk, and desserts! I was given stuff that was not on the regular menu and it was all delicious. The head chef even came out to check on me. Organic, high quality food? Maybe not...but for those who want to go on a cruise, Carnival definitely makes it easy to stay vegan. You must ask though. They told me they cook everything in butter (gross) even their steamed veggies so if you order off the regular menu, you won't really know what you're getting.

For the ultimate vegan cruise check out this link. I went last year and can say it was the best trip of it's kind I've ever taken.

The food on the cruise was prepared by a world class chef. It was by far the best food I've ever eaten.

This is so encouraging. I will be leaving on a Western Caribbean Cruise on Sunday, through Carnival! Hooray!

I was not impressed with Carnival AT ALL. I spoke with my waiter the first night and instead of talking to the hostess like he said he would, I continued to have a very disappointing dinner. I felt more ignored than anything else. They got my request right by the 3rd dinner - with lots of miscommunication to leave me hungry and frustrated on my vacation. I had to come down and speak with the hostess personally on my own time on the 3rd night because my waiters were completely incompitent. Aside from that they only had dessert (other than fruit) available to me for one evening, which was kind of sad. And I had to argue with the room service lady regarding soy milk even though I had been getting it all over the ship and had emailed the cruise line 2x regarding food restrictions. Aside from dinner, much else was not available for other meals other than a very small selection. The pizza bar was not willing to make a pizza without cheese and the deli did not have any veggies available other than lettuce and tomato. I would never recommend Carnival to anyone, as they are the Motel 6 of cruise lines.

Rebecca, I'm so sorry to hear you had such a rough time on the cruise. I was beyond pleased! Like I said above, I got some of the best food and different options every meal. I wonder why your ship had such a lack of service. I would definitely call and complain. Hope you enjoyed the beautiful beaches regardless!
