I started a compost a little over two weeks ago. AMAZING! It works so quickly and saves so much on garbage! I used to have 3 bags a week.....now......ONLY ONE!!!!!

The kids even love seeing what happens to the food as it decomposes! So cool to teach kids at a young age. I feel good about this!

Anyone else have good results? The bees scare me a bit, but so far no stings.

I'm new to eco-gardening and I'd like to set up a composter. What is the best and simplest method for composting?

Yay! I started composting last year and am addicted. My kids LOVE it and participate daily. It is amazing how much you cut down on garbage! I'm in California so it's much easier/faster to compost compared to colder climates, but it's still possible. I've now had to make 3 compost piles, all in different stages. Congratulations!

I have a composting question....how do you separate the good usable compost from the new raw material? Mine will start to become nice, rich soil, but then I add new raw materials to it and I am not quite sure how to keep them separate so I can start to use composted material. I have a big family and we eat a lot of fresh veggies and fruits and therefore add a lot to our compost bin. Any suggestions would be great....

I just started composting on a very small scale today. I searched and searched online (thank you Google!) for a way that I could compost in my small apartment without spending a ton of money on a fancy bin, and without worms (love them, don't want to kill them). I found a great webpage http://www.urbanorganicgardener.com/2010/02/kitchen-compost-bin-minus-the-worms/ , and now I'm doing it!
