Hi Everyone,
I've posted a few times in this board, but I come here regularly. I enjoy the discussions and valuable information that you all put together.
I've been vegetarian for about 15 years, only recently after reading Alicia's book, I've become vegan (Feb 2010). I'm still struggling though. I go through periods of eating way too much than my body needs and sometimes much much less than I should. I'm afraid I might have one of those unhealthy relationships with food. I'm also a sugar-holic too. But these are the issues I am aware of and that I need to work on.
Today, I wanted to ask you all about something else. About 1 month ago, my scalp started feeling very dry. Initially, it was just dryness and looked/felt more like baby cradle cap. Then, certain areas started becoming more like infected scars. I recently used cortizone cream to treat/dry the infected areas and it helped a little bit, but now I got more of those. My scalp feels very dry/unnatural/uncomfortable. I never had any issues with my scalp before. I had some problems with losing hair in the past, and after many doctors etc. I found out that my iron level was very low. That was 10 years ago.
I did a blood test again about 1.5 months ago, and my iron level was okay. Although, they told me that my vitamin D level was way too low. I was a big milk/cheese person before, and I can see why my vitamin D level is very low now. I'm trying to take vitamin D pills daily (if I don't forget).
I'm wondering if anyone else had a similar problem before and if my diet might be the reason for this thing I'm going through.
Thanks very much for your input in advance. :)
