Hi everyone,

I never thaought this could happen and it did. A little obout me first:

White male living in Toronto area. 58 years old and pretty active. Executive IT guy so my job is very stressful. Married to the same great gal for the past 31 years and have two awesome kids.

Now on to the crappy stuff. Got diagnosed with prostate cnacer in April. I had cut out All dairy around March 2010. I have since gotten off of meat and poultry. I still can't seem to drop fish.

My prognosis from my oncologist is so-so given that it was pretty advanced. The upside is that i have dropped 19 lbs so far and really pushing myself to go more vegan. Bonnie (wife) is such a trooper because she is right in there with me.

Bottom line guys - GET YOURSELVES CHECKED OUT every year. I missed a few years due to working overseas and it just caught up with me.

Pierre - I think its great that you are doing the diet thing - it can make a huge difference and I know people who have had horrible prognoses with different cancers who blew their doctors away with the improvements in their health. Take a look into raw food diets - there is a place in florida called the hippocrates institute, I'm an acupuncturist and have had three of my patients go there (not my suggestion, I found out about it from them!) and do their three week program with great results. Also check out the documentary "crazy, sexy cancer" - the woman who made that documents her battle with cancer from diagnoses on, and it goes into the different things she did - including the whole diet thing - I think she went to hippocrates too -

best of luck to you and your wife - again, I think its so amazing you are taking what you can about this into your own hands regarding diet -Ann

Hi Pierre.

I totally agree with Ann...you are doing great with the way you are handling your diet, and it is wonderful that you have the support of your lovely wife.

Definitely do some reading on macrobiotics and cancer etc...it really is worth it. Macrobiotics is truly amazing for healing the body.

Wishing you the best of luck with it all :-)

Wow! Go you for taking charge of your health! :) One thing I would add is stay away from sugar! It's evil! It feeds cancer! And inflammation! Please keep us updated....I would love to know how going vegan affects your health! :)

Yes on the sugar thing. I have not used sugar in so many years that I forgot. I rely on agave nectar and other natural sources for sweetening. I do cook with sugar on accasion and always use raw sugar. Another thing I need to work on os fasting to detoxify my system.

Truth is that if the body is a temple, I used to treat mine like an amusement park. My life took a turn and I needed to clean up my act so to speak. Reading the book Skinny Bastard opened my eyes to so many things.

Crazy, Sexy, Cancer is a phenomenal documentary! Her associated books are also fantastic and truly uplifting! Her website is great and she even has consults with members. She has Stage IV cancer and has been living with it for like 8 years or something by living a raw vegan lifestyle! Amazing!

Thank-you for sharing your story, Pierre! I'm sorry you have to go through such an ordeal but it sounds like you are doing it with grace and kindness to yourself. It's wonderful to hear about the support your family is giving as well.

All the best to you, Pierre!
