I have a 10 month old baby, I am really torn about giving her proper nutrition but not poisoning her with the nasty stuff....I haven't discussed this with her pediatrician, but am feeling torn about her foods that I'm starting to introduce. She is breastfed-no formula.....she loves veggies & fruits, but I feel gross to even give her a piece of chicken...she doesn't know! Helpful suggestions?
I would suggest looking up guidelines for proper nutrition for young children. At 10 months though, she would still get most of her nutrients from breastmilk, and she's really more dabbling in solids. There's no reason she would have to have chicken at all. What's helped me is to post nutrition guidelines on my refrigerator, updated as needed by age just to be sure my child is getting what he needs. You can safely raise children to be vegan or mostly vegan. They do not need to eat meat to get the nutrition they need. Good luck!
Thanks Nicole....! I am looking at some books on Amazon for her! :)
Hi Charissa I sent you a link on another thread regarding your concern about your baby daughter.
I'll post the link here too. It was put together by Dr. Neal Barnard who did the forward for Alicia's book. The link has step by step meal plans for pregnancy to infants all the way to 19 year olds and adults.
I hope you find it helpful as I did.

Thank you!! :) I will check it out!
Ready Becoming Vegan (or at least their baby-raising chapter :)) and speak with a nutritionalist. There are numerous ways to raise a healthy vegan baby into adulthood but it's definitely something you want to be well-versed in so that you can be sure you're providing her with the best nutrition you can.
Something important to remember is that many young children exhibit food allergies. I know I was really allergic to milk (I'm not anymore) and had to be weaned from breast milk almost straight to soy milk. It can certainly make things harder but kudos to you for wanting to do the kind thing! Your daughter is lucky to have a mother so interested in her health!
