Hi, I'm Lori and I'm a vegetarian (I feel like I'm at AA... haha!) Anyway, been a veggie for a little over a year now and I'm struggling with the transition from vegetarian to vegan. I was thinking if I had a little support it might be a bit easier. So if there is anyone from north/central NJ out there who wants to chat, go to dinner, a consignment shop, shop at Whole Foods together, you know ... random stuff like that, please email me directly (traveloriam@yahoo.com). Although I love this website, I really don't like the way the forum is organized.

Looking forward to hearing from you and good luck to everyone!

Hey Lori, I'm from New Jersey. But cosidering that I just stopped eating meat a week ago, you're probably too advanced for me. I probably feel like many do who are in the beginning of trying something like this, intimidated by those that have been at it for a while. Laila

Hi Lori, I am from NJ in the Belmar area. I stareted my whole journey from eating meat to becoming a vegetarian last January. It is something I had wanted to do for a long time, but just figured it would be too hard or I would not have enough time to cook my own food, ect. Then I read an article in a PETA magazine talking about the Kind Diet, and figuring it was right at the start of the new year I decided to finally do it. I did the whole vegetarian thing for about 3 weeks, however after reading all the bad stuff about dairy I decided to go full vegan and have been ever since. I find that as long as you do at lot of research and reading about all the things you can eat, it is not very difficult so long as you are committed to doing it and my husband has been very supportive as well so that has helped, he still eats meat but does not ask me to buy it for the house or cook it. :) Would love to have someone to chat with and lend support especially from NJ, send me a friend request if you like, have a great day :)

Hi All!

My name is Justin and I am living near Atlantic City NJ. I am a fan of The Kind Diet and buy the book in bulk. I am an acupuncturist and often use dietary adjustments as a form of therapy for my patients. I am a graduate of T. Colin Campbell's "Plant Based Nutrition" Course and hold free nutrition classes in my office every week. If anyone is visiting the area, look me up, we can be kind together!

Hi Lori, my name is Lori too! :o) I am from South Jersey, right outside of Philly. I became vegan 3 years ago with only a short vegetarian stint before that. All it took was a visit to the annual Humane Society of the United States conference in DC to make me vegan! I agree with Michele, the best thing to do is do a lot of research and go out and find some great cookbooks. A lot of people on here have mentioned getting them at a library, then you can just copy down recipes you love without having to pay for the whole cookbook!

I live in Parsippany, which is north Jersey. I think it would be great if a whole bunch of us from Jersey met one night for a kind diet dinner. Keep me in mind if you set something up.

Justin, I'm a huge fan of all of your posts. I am almost never in the Atlanic City area, I do however go to Wildwood every September for a few days and will definitely look you up the next time I do for one of your nutritional classes. I've learned so much from this web-site and a lot from you so thanks. :)

Hey Guys! I also live in NJ (Long Branch area). There's actually a second NJ thread on this site, and there are a few of us that are planning to meet at Kaya's Kitchen in Belmar next week. It's so cool to find like minded KIND smiley-smile.gif people in the area! If anyone's interested please feel free to join us for dinner next week. Message me for details, and Lori B i'll be sure to shoot you an email!

Oh, and Justin, I've been considering taking Dr. Campbell's eCornell class! How did you like it?

Belmar kind life jamboree? I'm in!

I thought that The plant based nutrition certificate was one of the best things I ever did. I even had my receptionist take it!

Is this thread still alive? I am in Jersey City but I don't have access to a car... maybe I should get on an NYC thread for meetups unless there are other vegans in Jersey City?
