I've been a vegan now 5 weeks.I have never felt better have so much energy and just feel that I am not contrbuting to the killing of animals. I think the people who wish to eat meat and diary should do so but leave us alone who chose to eat the way we do. I have so many people telling me my hair is going to fall out my skin is going to look bad and that I am not getting enough calcium. Why are people like this? I'm not pushing the way I like to eat and I wish people would just respect what we want to do. After reading so many books on veganism how could we eat meat. I just get sick to my stomach and so sad for the animals that are so mistreated so humans can eat meat.
hi nancy - i know ! but people are soon going to be asking you what your secret is because your skin will glow and your hair will shine so much . Most people are in denial about the suffering of animals , i was too but now i am horrified by how dreadful it is for them . Becoming vegan made me super sensitive to animals suffering adn now i cannot bear to wear leather as well . It screams bloody murder !!
I feel ya Nancy,
I am fortunate to have a super supportive family and a few of them have gone vegan purely based on how passionate I was about it and how healthy it is for their bodies. But indeed, I never bug anybody else about their choices and it would be nice not to be judged and interrogated for our choices. Bravo for going vegan and being so informed. I get so sad for the animals also. Together we can all make a difference! Much love...
Keep informing and educating yourself about veganism and the amazing physical and mental health benefits. I think that's one of the best things you can do for yourself. People are very ignorant and in denial of what they don't know. I read something yesterday that Kathy Freston said, and thought it was quite poignant "Ignorance is bliss, but it ain't the way to enlightenment."
I was reading Skinny Bitch a few months back, and a co-worker asked me if I was going to "become a skinny bitch and get brainwashed." Brainwashed? Into eating whole foods, being kinder to myself, animals and the environment?
Tali - I agree, we can all make a difference one person at a time :)
Mary, this is so true. What people don't realize is that they are brainwashed to think that disease-causing animal products are good for you! This is pounded into their heads everyday by advertisements and the government too with their stupid food pyramid and subsidies! Ugh. Talk about brainwashed!
