Lately I've found myself having after dinner munchies and eating waaaay to many of my boyfriends potato chips. Vegan, but obviously nowhere near superhero or good for me. Any ideas for a snack substitute? I've though about popcorn and whipping up a big batch of kale chips, but that's about where my ideas end.

Kale chips ae pretty darn tasty! one idea (tho it takes a few minutes to prepare) is to lightly oil a tortilla (i like brown rice tortillas), put some kale, mushrooms, and daikon with a load of spices mixed in and broil in the overn for a fe minutes. Sounds strange maybe but its super crunchy and help curb my cravings for chips. It can feel a bit more like a meal sometimes tho so maybe just half can satisfy u! hope this helps. Im a major after dinner munchy gal so i feel u!

I like David's pumpkin seeds, the ones still in the shell (it takes time to unshell so you don't end up eating the whole bag), I also like airpopped popcorn drizzled w/olive oil, Trader Joe's Everyday Seasoning, salt & pepper to taste. Rice crackers w/jalapeno hummus. Or melt some vegan cheese in a corn tortilla & top w/fresh salsa. Leftover broccoli (artichokes, carrots) dipped in a mixture of vegannaise/dab of soy/dab of sriracha sauce, more sirachi if u like spicy....yum!

My son makes his own pickled carrots/onion/jalapeno mix. If u make a batch u can have it to snack on for a week or so. I've been wanting to try this & adding cauliflower, maybe redbells, too....d

One of my favorite salty snacks is a few fried tofu steaks. Just slice two or three pieces of tofu really thin and fry them (you really don't need that much oil) and sprinkle your favorite spices, mine is a lemon pepper salt mix. Let it fry on high heat just long enough to make both sides crispy and voila! You have a low calorie, salty snack :-)

Hi Stormy,

I think there are lots of snacks you can try out. Though a lot of savory snacks are highly processed, use subpar oils and are full of artificial flavors and colors. So I have been using a good company product such as Sheffa foods- http://www.sheffafoods.com/products/sesame-savory-bar/ in US that offers savory snacks and salad sprinkles that are full of nutrients and flavor! Their products are quite natural and delicious too.
